YouTube Music started to provide a filter capable of removing suggestions for songs that the user liked on the video streaming service. The tool more clearly separates what is suggested content from likes in music, from what comes from like in a video that is also considered as music.
YouTube Music and Google Play Music on Android. (Image: André Fogaça / Tecnoblog) One of the most striking positives of YouTube Music is its integration with content that is within YouTube, in terms of videos. If the site considers it a song, playback can also happen in the app aimed at streaming music. The call works even in the construction of a playlist called “I like” and that is on YouTube Music.
It is filled with songs that the user clicked on the “like” button, on any platform where YouTube has an application and that includes the web version, on the computer. The novelty is that from now on the “I like” playlist can stop receiving music from liked videos.
This setting is configured by default to continue inserting songs in the playlist, but just touch or click on your face (it is in the upper right corner) and then “Settings”. Now tap on “Playback and restrictions” or “General”, depending on where you are accessing YouTube Music, and disable the option “Show your songs marked with” I liked “from YouTube”.
Songs on YouTube Music disappear, but can come back
The change within the playlist is automatic and retroactive, meaning that all songs added from likes outside YouTube Music will be removed. In my case the list contained 416 songs, but was left with only one song after changing this setting. You can go back and retrieve the entire playlist if you activate the tool again.
Even with the likes on videos considered as music on YouTube not filling the playlist, the songs or clips that the user clicks “liked” on YouTube Music continue to affect the suggestions in the opposite direction.
