In addition to announcing its new smartphones, Redmi, an independent brand from Xiaomi, presented its first notebook. With an affordable price, the RedmiBook 14 has a 14 inch screen with Full HD resolution, thin edges, of 5.75 mm, and 81.2% use.
The device will be released in pre-order in China on June 1 with a starting price of 3,999 yuan (about R $ 2,330). There are two processor options: Intel Core i7 8565U or Intel Core i5 8265U. It has Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU, 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB SSD storage.
The notebook has a headphone jack and standard HDMI and USB ports, but does not, however, have a USB-C port. It weighs 1.5 kg and is 1.79 cm thick. These are the prices announced for the RedmiBook 14:
- Intel Core i5, 4 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage: 3,999 yuan (R $ 2,330);
- Intel Core i5, 4 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage: 4,299 yuan (R $ 2,500);
- Intel Core i7, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage: 4,999 yuan (R $ 2,910).
Redmi says the battery lasts up to 7 hours while the notebook plays videos on the internet. If the files are stored locally, the time can reach 10 hours. The manufacturer also says that it only takes 35 minutes to go from zero to 50% battery.
Although not part of the Xiaomi line, the RedmiBook 14 communicates with the Mi Band 3 smart bracelet to speed up the screen unlock. According to the manufacturer, Smart Unlock 2.0 gives access to the system in just 1.2 seconds.
