THE Xiaomi should soon launch a smartphone with a refresh rate of 120 Hz screen, in addition to a cell phone with digital zoom from to 50 times on the camera. The news was found by the staff of XDA Developers, in the MIUI 11 beta code.
The code indicates that, in the new device, the refresh rate of the screen can be changed in the device’s settings, ranging from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. The first option promises to “save more battery”, while the second will “make transitions more smooth ”.
Nothing out of the ordinary and expected on screens like this. Some say that higher refresh rates are a no-go, just like SSD on computers; others are of the opinion that it does not make that much difference on a daily basis.
The fact is that the faster the transition, the greater the impression that the cell phone is quick to perform tasks, due to the time of the lowest latency between the user’s touch and the device’s reaction.
And there is an audience for that: gamers. This is the focus of the already launched Asus ROG Phone II, with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, 90 Hz or 120 Hz; and Sharp Aquos Zero 2, with a 240 Hz refresh rate.
Xiaomi and “ultra tele” mode with up to 50x zoom
Still in the MIUI 11 code, two camera modes were found by the XDA Developers: the “Tele 5x”, a possible optical zoom from the telephoto camera; and “Ultra Tele”, with the description of being able to zoom up to 50 times to capture distant objects in good detail.
For comparison, the Huawei P30 Pro also delivers a 50x digital zoom to take pictures of the Moon with the SuperZoom camera. With the telephoto lens, the optical zoom is up to 5x and the hybrid up to 10 times.
In addition, it is worth remembering that Xiaomi will have phones with 108 megapixel cameras soon, with the Isocell Bright HMX sensor developed by Samsung.
