The most powerful notebook in the world when it comes to graphics. That’s what Asus says about his latest announcement, the ProArt StudioBook One. That’s because the model is the first notebook to come with the mobile version of the powerful GPU Quadro RTX 6000, from Nvidia. The focus here is not on games: we are talking about a mobile workstation, actually.
It’s been a year since Nvidia announced Quadro RTX graphics cards. These GPUs are intended for professional applications, such as object modeling, animation creation and 3D video rendering. Three models make up the line: Quadro RTX 5000, Quadro RTX 6000 and Quadro RTX 8000.
Hitchhiking at the IFA 2019 fair, Nvidia unveiled the mobile versions of these GPUs. The specs have not yet been released, but the company says that the Quadro RTX 6000 that equips the Asus ProArt StudioBook One has a performance close to that of the desktop model – this reaches 16.3 teraflops in single precision (FP32), just to give you an idea .
It is no coincidence that Asus says and Nvidia confirms: ProArt StudioBook One is the most powerful laptop in the world when it comes to graphics capability. Both adopt this discourse because, so far, the equipment is the only one on the market to have the version for Quadro RTX 6000 laptops.
But that is not the only attribute. The ProArt StudioBook One also features an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor (ninth generation), 64 GB of DDR4 memory, 1 TB NVMe SSD and 90 Wh battery.
You cannot complement a configuration like this with a chinframe screen, right? Well, Asus placed a 15.6-inch panel (LCD, apparently) with 4K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass protection on the StudioBook One.
The display also features 100% of the Adobe RGB color space and 97% of the DCI-P3, in addition to being validated by Pantone.
It is so much firepower that the cooling had to be well designed. In ProArt StudioBook One, Asus adopted ACE, a design reference for workstations that Nvidia is launching now.
In addition to allowing the workstation to be very compact, the ACE is based on a cooling system made of titanium that works with steam chambers.
The price has not been revealed, but you can be sure that a computer like this doesn’t come cheap. The Quadro RTX 6000 alone should cost something close to $ 4,000 – at least that’s the current price of the desktop GPU version.
Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro X and ROG Zephyrus S GX701
It is worth mentioning that ProArt StudioBook One does not arrive alone. Asus will bring several new features to IFA 2019, including the ProArt StudioBook Pro X, which comes with a Core i7-9750H or Xeon E-2276M processor, Quadro RTX 5000 graphics with 16 GB of GDDR6, up to 128 GB of RAM, plus up to 6 TB of storage.
The screen is 17 inches. There is a second display called ScreenPad 2.0 that also functions as a touchpad.
As for the gamer audience, Asus announced a variant of the ROG Zephyrus S GX701 notebook that features Intel Core i7-9750H processor, GeForce RTX 2080 graphics chip and 300 Hz screen.
