O Whatsapp plans news for unlocking via biometrics in the app. Currently, Android users can use the fingerprint reader to access the messenger, but the service may offer face recognition unlocking soon.
The information is WABetaInfo, and were collected from version 220.127.116.11 of WhatsApp Beta, and are especially interesting for smartphone users who do not have a fingerprint sensor – like some more basic models.
As you can see in the image below, the function is called “Biometric lock”, instead of “Fingerprint lock”.
With the novelty, WhatsApp should enable more users to secure unlock, in addition to improving the feature in terms of accessibility.
Join missed calls
Another function, still under development in version 18.104.22.168, will allow users to join group calls, even if the call has been lost. For that, it is enough that the call is still in progress, with other participants.
It is a good option for when you have that friend who is always late for meetings (even if online).
Both the new biometric lock and the news for group calls are under development, and there is still no information on when they actually reach WhatsApp users.
