WhatsApp tests messages that self-destruct | Applications and Software

A new trial version of Whatsapp brings a feature known from other applications: it will be possible to send messages that self-destruct after a certain period of time. The novelty can be useful to send more sensitive information to a contact.

Who discovered the resource this Tuesday (1st) was the WABetaInfo, in version 2.19.275 of WhatsApp for Android, which has already started to be distributed to testers. Since the feature is still in development, it is likely that it will not appear to you, even with the latest version installed.

You can see some features of the feature in the group settings. By default, the option “Self-destructive messages” is turned off, but it is possible to select a time of 5 seconds or 1 hour for the message to expire and can no longer be viewed by anyone.

“After activating this option, any message will be automatically removed and there will be no remnants in the chat about deleted messages”, says WABetaInfo. For now, self-destructive messages have only appeared in group settings, but the site notes that it is very likely that they are also available for private conversations.

The resource is in the early stages of development and there is still no official forecast for it to reach everyone. The comments area is reserved for Telegram users.
