WhatsApp is about to become a little more like Instagram through a new option to display videos. The application works in its version of the Boomerang mode, which presents them in a forward and backward loop.
The information is WABetaInfo, which tends to advance new WhatsApp features. According to the site, WhatsApp’s Boomerang has been in development for a few weeks, but is not yet available even in beta.
The feature should be offered initially on iOS and then on Android. It will be available both in Status and in conversations. To use the app’s Boomerang mode, you will need to record video for up to 7 seconds.
Then, before publishing the video, it will be possible to mark it as Boomerang. The option will be offered next to the icons that allow you to display the video normally or transform it into a kind of GIF. The screen will continue with features like emojis, text and drawings on the video.
The app has been running tests for some time now to become more integrated with Facebook and Instagram. In June, the beta version started to show an option to share Status posts on Facebook Stories and Instagram Stories.
Just like what happened on Instagram, the WhatsApp area for publications that last 24 hours will also start showing ads to monetize the app. According to Facebook, they will arrive at the app in 2020.
