O Whatsapp has undergone few changes to the interface over the past few years: one of them was the end of the Contacts tab to make room for Status, a Snapchat clone. This came along with a Camera tab to encourage users to post photos and videos that last 24 hours; at the WhatsApp Business, it will be replaced by a shortcut screen.
O WABetaInfo messed with the WhatsApp Business code for Android (2.19.117 beta) and discovered something hidden: a “Home” tab that replaces the Camera tab. The screen displays shortcuts to the company profile, automatic messages, labels and statistics.
It’s a welcome change: a dedicated camera makes more sense for ordinary users, not businesses. The Conversations, Status and Calls tabs remain in the Business version, in the same order.
But if you were hoping for the end of the Camera tab on WhatsApp, bad news: it will be removed only from the Business version, and will remain present in the main app. “In the future, WhatsApp will completely remove the Camera tab in the Business version, but WhatsApp Messenger will continue with it,” explains WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp Business will have connected accounts and dark mode
WhatsApp Business has several unique features. You can use tags to mark conversations: for example, to indicate that a particular customer is “pending payment”. There are also automatic welcome and absence responses.
The application will, in the future, gain the “Connected Accounts” functionality. This way, a company will be able to link its Facebook page or Instagram profile to the WhatsApp Business account, since the services belong to the same company.
“Okay, but what about the dark mode?”, You ask me impatiently. Of course, WhatsApp Business has not yet gained a dark mode, but there are indications that this will happen at some point: the opening screen has a dark gray background and the black logo if you activate Android 9 Pie or higher night mode. This is also present on WhatsApp Messenger.
