Nintendo released, on Thursday night (22), the update of Pokémon Sword and Shield that brings the second DLC of the game: The Crown Tundra. Players can now explore the Galar ice region and embark on Dynamax Adventures to meet the franchise’s new and old legends, as well as known species that were included in the update.
The Crown Tundra is part of the set with Isle of Armor, released in June to those who purchased the expansion of the eighth generation game, for the amount of R $ 149 in eShop do Brasil. In the previous adventure, players enter Master Mustard’s dojo to meet challenges and receive the legendary Kubfu, which evolves into Urshifu; in this area it is also possible to enable the Gigantamax phenomenon for other Pokémon.
The Crown Tundra brings all legendary
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the expansion is the ability to capture all the legendary games from the franchise’s previous games. The discovery will be possible during the adventure through the new ice region or on the Dynamax Adventure explorations. However, there are exclusives between Sword and Shield, some can only be found in certain versions of the eighth generation game.
Dynamax Adventures is a cooperative mode that brings together four players to explore “Dens”, a type of cave in which Pokémon in the form of Dynamax or Gigantamax appear.
It will work as follows: the team chooses a “rented” Pokémon each and follows Den’s exploration, when they find a Dynamax Pokémon, the team tries to defeat it and capture it, with that it is available to replace one of the Pokémon that already are at the team party.
The challenge is to stay until the end of the exploration, to find a legendary one, lining up with the other players to decide who needs to receive the newly defeated Pokémon. The negative status, health and PP of each attack are not renewed at the end of each battle.
Another mission of Crown Tundra it is the Galarian Star Tournament, in which the player chooses one of the Galar coaches to form a team during the competition battles.
For fans of the competitive, a new item will be added: the Ability Patch. When using it on a Pokémon, the species has its ability exchanged for “hidden ability”, which is generally more useful in battles and difficult to find in Pokémon.
Both the base game of Sword and Shield regarding the expansion of Isle of Armor brought facilities for players who want to build a team for the competitive scenario. It is interesting to see Nintendo and Game Freak facilitating these processes that tend to be quite laborious in previous games.
The Crown Tundra it also adds new regional forms, such as Slowking (Poison / Psychic), species from previous generations such as the evolutionary line of Elekid, Spheal, Zubat and Beldum, new clothes and items.
