Telegram receives beta video calls | Applications and Software

O Telegram should release video calls by the messenger soon: the videoconference feature showed up in the experimental version of the messaging app for Android, iOS (iPhone and iPad) and macOS. It is not yet known, however, when the new function will be available to all users.

Video calls have been expected since April, when Telegram promised the feature without revealing many details after reaching 400 million active users per month. “There are apps that are safe or have a good user experience, but not both at the same time. We want to fix that, and we’re going to focus on delivering you secure group video calls with good user experience in 2020, ”they announced.

Now, in August, video calls started to take shape: the new function appeared in version 7.0.0 of Telegram Beta. According to reports by the Twitter user @ alex193a, videoconferences can be held directly through the chats of the messaging application and does not require prior activation to access the news.

The app update also brought support for Android 11 notification bubbles, which have been in testing since July 2020. And, of course, like the video conferencing tool, the feature is still limited to trial versions of the messenger.

There is no forecast for the release of the features in the stable versions of Telegram.
