This Monday (1st), Samsung launched two new premium tablets in the Brazilian market: the Galaxy Tab S4, powerful 10.5-inch model with a focus on productivity and support for DeX mode; it’s the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018), a more affordable option for consuming content. The tablets have 4G connection and prices start at R $ 2,199.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S4
THE Galaxy Tab S4 is Samsung’s new flagship. The focus is on productivity: it supports DeX mode, which offers a desktop-like experience. You can connect the tablet to a monitor via an HDMI adapter to work on a larger screen, as in the Galaxy Note 9, or access the desktop directly on the tablet, with a compatible keyboard and mouse.
It maintains the characteristics of its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S3, such as the four speakers optimized by AKG and support for the S Pen, with 4,096 pressure levels and 0.7 mm thick tip. There were changes in the hardware, formed by a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, with the possibility of microSD expansion.
Samsung abandoned the 4: 3 aspect ratio of the previous generation and placed a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels (16:10) on the Galaxy Tab S4, which promises to play videos for up to 16 hours on battery 7,300 mAh. In the cameras, we have an 8 megapixel front and a 13 megapixel rear, both with f / 1.9 aperture lens.
On top of Android 8.1 Oreo, Samsung included software differentials. With the S Pen, you can translate texts in up to 71 languages, in addition to converting currencies. You can also write a message by hand with the screen off, as with the Note line. And the Daily Table shows the clock, field forecast, calendar appointments and the gallery while you are not using the tablet.
In Brazil, the Galaxy Tab S4 has a suggested price of R $ 4,299, in the version with 4G. It will be sold in black starting this week. A cover with keyboard will be sold as an accessory for R $ 699.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018)
For those who don’t want to spend that much money, Samsung launched a simpler model, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018). As the name suggests, it has a screen the same size as the more expensive brother, only with an LCD panel and a lower resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels (16:10). There is no support for the S Pen, unlike Apple, which allows you to doodle even on the cheapest iPad.
Samsung kept the four speakers with Dolby Atmos technology to emit surround sound, although without stamping the AKG brand. The battery has the same capacity of 7,300 mAh, but is recharged via the Micro-USB connection (boo!) In 3.5 hours and has a slightly shorter promised life of 15 hours of video playback or web browsing over Wi-Fi.
You lose DeX mode and processing power: it is equipped with 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, with microSD expansion. The front cameras are 8 megapixels (rear) and 5 megapixels (front).
More affordable, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018) costs R $ 2,199 in the Brazilian market, also with 4G.
