Pay TV subscribers in SP receive alerts about natural disasters | Telecommunications

Users cable TV in the state of São Paulo can receive alerts from Civil defense on natural disasters since Monday (28): with the news, viewers will be warned with a pop-up message if there is any risky situation. This is available to customers of Claro (including NET), Vivo, Oi, Sky and Nossa TV; it is a resource already present in other states.

The alerts are of abrupt changes in temperature, flooding, floods, landslides, floods, gales and hailstorms. In addition to São Paulo, the resource was previously implemented in the states of Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

Its not necessary to register for alerts: they arrive automatically and overlap with traditional programming, with an exposure time of 10 seconds. It is also possible to close the messages so as not to disturb the important scene of the soap opera.

Alert coverage will be expanded: until November 18, the Midwest and North regions will be covered, while the Northeast region will receive the resource until December 16, 2019.

Civil Defense sends alerts to cell phones via SMS

Civil Defense warnings on pay TV complement the SMS notifications of natural disasters. Anatel informs that more than 700 million messages have already been sent to 6.7 million mobile phone customers in the country between February 2017 and August 2019.

To receive alerts on your cell phone, you must be a customer of Claro, Vivo, TIM, Oi, Sercomtel, Algar or Nextel and send a message containing the zip code to number 40199; it is possible to register several zip codes.
