THE Nintendo promised to launch Mario Kart Tour this Wednesday (25) and did so: the novelty is now available for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) and follows the free-to-play model, that is, the game itself is free, but you can buy “rubies” to unlock or obtain certain features.
Obviously, we do not find here a mere adaptation of the Mario Kart franchise games for Nintendo consoles. Together with the DeNA studio, the company had to develop Mario Kart Tour with a mechanics totally focused on smartphones and tablets.
It starts with the controls. As with other racing games for Android and iOS, here, the player does not control acceleration. Instead, the kart advances on its own and the user must slide his finger over the screen to turn it from side to side. Also note that the game follows vertical orientation.
The theme of the game is inspired by real cities, hence the name “tour”. In the first phase, Mario and his gang will compete in races in New York. Tours to other cities will be released fortnightly. We already know that Paris and Tokyo will be among the next.
Depending on his performance in the race, the player will be awarded “grand stars”. With them, it is possible to release resources such as special items and characters. However, the easiest way to access many of these bonuses is to buy rubies. Package prices start at R $ 7.90 – yes, the game is available for Brazil.
At the official website of Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo highlights the Gold Pass. It is a subscription that costs R $ 19.90 per month and gives access to resources such as gold prizes in the seasons, badges in the gold challenges and unlocking the 200 cc category.
Mario Kart Tour is available for Android 4.4 or higher, as well as for iOS 10.0 or higher. It is necessary to have a Nintendo account and a permanent internet connection to enjoy the game.
