It took, but the Google launched on Monday (11) the Nest Mini, smart speaker with Google Assistant voice commands. With a suggested price of R $ 349, it is the most affordable model of the Nest line in Brazil and marks the debut of Google in the smart speaker market in the country, which already has the family Amazon Echo and personal assistant Alexa.
Nest Mini is the successor to the Google Home Mini, which never got to be launched in the Brazilian market. Similar to Amazon Echo Dot (R $ 349), it is compact, spherical and covered with fabric. Google says it used fabric made from 100% recycled plastic bottles to cover the speaker, while the plastic housing has 30% recycled material.
According to Google, Nest Mini has bass twice as strong as Home Mini and enhanced speech recognition, allowing you to “call for help even when you’re on the other side of the environment”. A new machine learning chip can process English voice commands without relying on Google’s servers, and there is a hole to attach the speaker to the wall.
Google Assistant has been running in Brazilian Portuguese since 2017. You can watch a YouTube video on TV, start cleaning with a robot vacuum cleaner, control the house lights and integrate the speaker with other connected home products. Nest Mini can be configured using the Google Home app for Android and iOS.
In the debut, Google has partnerships with Positivo, TCL, iRobot, Sony, Bose, LG, Geonav and other electronics manufacturers. You can listen to news from the main communication vehicles in Brazil, such as Twitter, leaf, Look and The globe, in addition to consuming content from Spotify, Netflix and more streaming platforms.
Nest Mini joins Chromecast as the only Google gadgets marketed in Brazil. It will be sold starting this Tuesday (12th) in the colors chalk (also known as white) and charcoal (black) with a suggested price of R $ 349 in the main retailers. In the United States, the model is found for $ 49.
