Rumors say that Motorola is getting ready to launch a Moto Z4 this year, and surprise: this phone was available on American Amazon and a Reddit user managed to buy it. The device comes with the previously leaked specifications: screen with notch, digital reader built into the display, rear camera of 48 megapixels and connector for Moto Snaps.
The Moto Z4 page on Amazon, available on the Internet Archive, confirms the rumors we’ve heard in recent weeks. The new Motorola phone has a notch screen and a very thin chin, with no space for the company logo (finally!). The fingerprint reader is located under the OLED display.
At the rear, we have a 48 megapixel camera and the magnetic connector for Moto Snaps (known as Moto Mods in the USA). At the bottom are the USB-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The body is made of 6000 series aluminum and has a P2i coating that protects against splashes.
Moto Z4 has a 48 MP camera with night mode
The user JETFIRE007 from Reddit acquired the Moto Z4 sold and delivered by Amazon, and shared some additional details. The 6.4-inch OLED screen “is large, bright and sharp, with accurate colors”. The fingerprint reader “is fast enough”, but the user needs to get used to putting his finger in the right place.
The 48 megapixel camera has a night mode called Night Vision, just like the Motorola One Vision. It cannot see in complete darkness, but it captures a lot of detail if it has a little light. Here is a example compared to the Moto Z2 Force:
The Moto Z4 allows you to use old Moto Snaps, even though it is slightly larger than the Moto Z2 Force. However, the accessories do not fit so well, leaving a gap in the rear that you can see and feel. This is more noticeable in the video:
Moto Z4 is slower than Moto Z2 Force in benchmark
JETFIRE007 also performed the AnTuTu benchmark test. The Moto Z4, with its Snapdragon 675, has similar results to the first generation Moto Z (Snapdragon 820) and is behind the Moto Z2 Force (Snapdragon 835).
What concerns us is the graphic performance: the Moto Z4 reaches half the Moto Z score. You can see the new device choking on the GPU test (the video is here). That is, if you want a mobile phone for games, it may not be the best option.
It is worth noting that the Moto Z4 is more like a successor to the Moto Z3 Play, because Motorola supposedly “Has no plans to launch a Play model on the Z line this year”. However, rumors mention a Moto Z4 Force with Snapdragon 855 and 5G module support.
Moto Z, Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z4 in the AnTuTu benchmark, in CPU, GPU, UX and memory tests:
The Moto Z4 runs Android 9 Pie with Motorola customizations, including Moto Actions gestures. There is also FM and NFC radio.
The device was sold on Amazon for $ 499.99 with the Moto 360 Camera. It is more expensive than the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL ($ 399 and $ 479, respectively); however, the Moto Z4 has more internal storage, microSD support and a Moto Snaps connector.
