O Moto G8 Play showed up in leaked renderings: the images show a cell phone with drop-shaped notch on the screen and a triple camera with a 117 degree ultrawide lens. It should be officially announced in Brazil on October 24, along with Moto E6 Play, Moto G8 Plus and Motorola One Macro.
The images come from the Dutch website Mobielkopen. The Moto G8 Play (or Moto G8) has a drop-shaped notch screen and a chin on the bottom without the Motorola logo. On the sides, we have the volume and power buttons, speaker, USB-C port to charge the battery and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
And at the rear, there is the triple camera. We don’t know the specifications yet, but the image includes the text “117º Ultra Wide Cam”, indicating that one of the sensors will be accompanied by a wide-angle lens. There is also the fingerprint reader on the Motorola logo. We will have red or black color options.
One source Tecnoblog that the Moto G8 Play will have the MediaTek Helio P60 processor and 4,000 mAh battery, against the 3,000 mAh of the predecessor G7 Play.
Moto G8 Play and G8 Plus will be released later this month
The new phone will be accompanied by the Moto G8 Plus, with Snapdragon 665 processor, 6.3-inch Full-HD + screen and 4,000 mAh battery. The camera will be triple, with 48 megapixel main sensor, 16 MP sensor with 117 degree lens, and depth sensor.
On the outside, the differences between the Moto G8 Play and G8 Plus appear to be small. The notch has different shapes in each of these phones, and the Plus model camera has a hole in the back for the laser autofocus system (it is not a quadruple camera).
We will know more details on October 24, when Motorola will hold an event in São Paulo to announce new devices.
