After many rumors, the Apple finally officially presented the 16-inch MacBook Pro this Wednesday (13): it has an Intel Core processor up to 5 GHz, comes with an SSD of up to 8 TB, brings AMD Radeon graphics chip and abandons the butterfly design for the keyboard. The notebook is accompanied by a huge battery and a new thermal architecture. It starts at US $ 2,399 in the USA, and will start at R $ 21,299 in Brazil.
This is the first time that the MacBook Pro comes with a 16 inch display. Of course, this is a Retina display, with a resolution of 3072 x 1920 and pixel density of 226 ppi; there are almost 6 million pixels calibrated individually at the factory. It reaches a brightness of 500 nits and displays the P3 color range.
O keyboard back to using a scissor mechanism, since Apple even apologized for the butterfly keyboards of previous MacBooks. The Magic Keyboard has keys that move 1 mm down when pressed, offering “the best typing experience ever found on a MacBook”, according to the company.
At the bottom, the keys have a rubber piece designed by Apple “that stores more potential energy for a better response with each press”. This could also prevent dust from entering the keyboard. Touch ID is still present, as is the Touch Bar, but now the Escape key is physical.
16 ″ MacBook Pro adopts new thermal architecture
Inside, we have processors 9th generation Intel Core with 6 or 8 cores, reaching Turbo Boost speeds of up to 5 GHz. It is possible to configure this MacBook Pro with up to 64 GB of RAM and 8 TB of storage SSD – the largest ever found in a notebook.
There are also graphics chips the AMD Radeon Pro 5000M series, the first 7 nm GPUs for notebooks and aimed at professional users; up to 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.
There is no point in having all this power if the MacBook gets too hot, as it would have to slow down – a problem that occurred in the past generation. This time, Apple changed the thermal architecture.
The fans have bigger blades, a stronger motor and wider vents for a 28% greater air flow. This is coupled with the 35% larger heatsink so that the 16-inch MacBook Pro can support up to 12 more watts during intensive workloads compared to the previous generation.
THE drums 100 Wh is the largest ever found on a MacBook. It provides up to 11 hours of web browsing over Wi-Fi or video playback via the Apple TV app.
There are even improvements in the audio. We now have six speakers with new woofers that have force cancellation: they use opposite drivers to reduce vibrations that distort the sound. The microphones have a 40% lower squeak and a signal-to-noise ratio “rivaling popular professional-grade digital microphones,” according to the company.
Apple will sell 16 ″ MacBook Pro for up to R $ 50,999
Of course, all of this won’t come cheap, especially from Apple. The 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $ 2,399 in the US, where it goes on sale today. The laptop will reach more countries “soon”.
