On Thursday (27), Latam started offering Wi-Fi service on national flights. Wireless internet, which is already present in nine Airbus A319 aircraft, is provided by Gogo on 2Ku technology, which achieves higher download speeds, including to consume content by streaming.
Unlike what some airlines have been doing, there is no free modality for messaging applications at Latam. There are three packages, which can be purchased per hour or for the entire flight, according to the Teletime. These are the prices:
- Messages (emails, WhatsApp and other messaging apps): R $ 7.50 per hour
- Navigation (on web pages): R $ 12 per hour or R $ 20.50 per flight
- Navigation + (with streaming and VPN): R $ 27.50 per hour or R $ 36.50 per flight
THE 2Ku technology, from Gogo, is available on more than 600 aircraft from Air France, American Airlines, Delta, Gol, KLM and other airlines. It promises download speeds of up to 15 Mb / s per passenger or more than 200 Mb / s for the entire aircraft, with a connection availability of 98%.
At Latam, the expectation is to reach the end of the year with the Wi-Fi service operating on 30 Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, on domestic flights and to other countries in Latin America.
