iPhone 12 outperforms iPhone 11 in battery test; 12 Pro loses to 11 Pro | Cell phone

The first practical tests with the line iPhone 12 began to be revealed this week, and one of them makes the battery comparison with the iPhones 11 and 11 Pro. While the iPhone 12 achieves a longer autonomy than its predecessor, the Pro version was not able to beat the previous generation .

Arun Maini’s video on his channel Mrwhosetheboss, displays the timed battery test that places the iPhones 12, 12 Pro, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XR and SE (2020) side by side, with brightness and the same usage settings. The smartphones run iOS 14 and do not use a SIM card – the connection is over Wi-Fi, without using the 5G, therefore.

During the video, smartphones are placed to run some games, such as Among Us and Knighthood, in addition to playing videos on Instagram and YouTube and using the camera for recording.

Below is the duration and battery capacity of each cell phone:

iPhone 12 Pro iPhone 12 iPhone 11 Pro Max iPhone 11 Pro iPhone 11 iPhone XR iPhone SE (2020)
Battery capacity 2,815 mAh 2,815 mAh 3,968 mAh 3,046 mAh 3,110 mAh 2,942 mAh 1,821 mAh
Battery life 6h35min 6h41min 8h29min 7:36 am 5h08min 4h31min 3h59min

As you can see in the table above, the iPhone 12 Pro was unable to beat the iPhone 11 Pro brand, which lasted more than 7 hours until it completely discharged, under the same conditions. It is worth remembering that the iPhone 12 Pro has a larger screen – 6.1 ”against 5.8” of its predecessor, which may contribute to the result, along with the fact that Apple has reduced its load capacity.

The iPhone 12, despite maintaining the screen size of the iPhone 11, now has an OLED panel, which is more economical. It has slightly smaller battery capacity, but in this case the efficiency of the A14 Bionic chip is sufficient to make the range longer.

IPhone 12 Pro Max battery has also been reduced

The iPhones 12 Mini and Pro Max have not been tested because smartphones enter the ordering phase only on November 6th. But it is worth mentioning that the most robust model in the iPhone 12 line has already been approved by Anatel and, according to information from the regulatory agency, also suffered a reduction in battery capacity.

It remains to be seen whether this factor, next to the larger screen, of 6.7 ”, could greatly reduce the autonomy of the smartphone.
