Huawei sees revenue increase despite U.S. sanctions | Business

Huawei has managed to register growth despite sanctions imposed since May by the United States government. The company announced on Wednesday (16) that, between January and September 2019, its revenue was 610.8 billion yuan (about R $ 358.1 billion).

The result, according to Huawei, represents an increase of 24.4% in comparison with the same period last year. The company also reported that the net profit margin in the first nine months of 2019 was 8.7%.

As there are no shares traded on the stock exchange, Huawei is not required to present a more detailed balance sheet. The manufacturer did not reveal specific numbers for each of its divisions, but highlighted, for example, the performance of its smartphone area.

In the first nine months of 2019, 185 million units were sold, which indicates an increase of 26% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The company says sales of PCs, tablets, wearables and smart speakers have also grown.

Huawei was included in the list of companies banned by the U.S. The measure prevents her from doing business with American companies without government approval. The Chinese manufacturer even estimated that the decision would lead to a loss of $ 30 billion in revenue.

In the first half, however, the company rose 23.2% over the same period in 2018. At the time, revenue was 401.3 billion yuan (R $ 235.3 billion, at the current price), with 118 million smartphones sold.

Despite being positive, the numbers still do not clearly indicate the influence of new phones without Google applications. The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro were launched in early September and are expected to have a bigger share in the balance at the end of the year.
