Google Maps already offers suggested routes on foot, by car, public transport, bicycle or services like Uber. Now, the app also has the option of scooters on Android and iOS, thanks to an integration with Lime.
The option is available in dozens of cities worldwide, including São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the two cities in which Lime operates in Brazil. With the novelty, Google Maps presents information about scooters that are available in the region.
They appear in some searches for walking, cycling, or public transit directions. In addition to offering details on itineraries on these means of transport, the application may suggest that the route be carried out with a scooter.
According to Lime, the recommendation for scooters only happens when it is a good alternative for users. In these cases, the application indicates the distance and battery level of the equipment, in addition to the estimated price of the trip.
When selecting the option, the map shows the points where scooters are available. To start the journey, just choose one of them and select the option “Release in Lime”, which directs you to the application or, if it has not yet been installed on your phone, to Google Play or the App Store.
