Google has been testing night mode in its apps for a while and has now announced the new interface for two of them: Gmail and Maps. The company confirmed the novelty for both Android 10 and Gmail from iOS 11.
Night mode is being released in the latest Gmail update for those who have the indicated versions of Android or iOS. “If these versions of the operating system are available for your device, we recommend upgrading to use dark mode.”
The option, which when enabled, displays a dark gray background in the application, was noticed by users in early September. At the time, night mode was available from version 2019.08.18.267.
On Instagram, the Android profile promoted the arrival of night mode on Google Maps for Android 10. “Try it, your view and battery will thank you”, says the publication. There is no information about the iOS version of the app, which had its last update on Monday (7).
To check if the night mode has already been released, just access the Gmail and Maps settings and search for the Theme option. Another way out is to change the interface of all possible apps in Android and iOS preferences.
In addition to the two applications, the company has started to release dark mode for Agenda, Keep, Photos and its search application. Even Chrome received the alternative interface in its stable version for Windows 10.
