Mishaal Rahman reported on XDA Developers that Google Play has started to display dark mode on its Pixel 2 XL with Android 10, although, so far, there is no official announcement about the feature.

Apparently, Google is running a test with just a few users: Rahman said in his post that a developer tried to force dark mode on his device, but failed.

The screenshots released by Rahman show an interface with an almost black background, white or light gray fonts and details such as buttons, description of tabs and rating stars in green.

Note that the images show different screens from the Google Play Store, such as the home page and the configuration area. This detail suggests that the dark mode of the service is in an advanced stage of development and, because of that, it should not take long to be officially released.

It is not yet clear for which versions of Android the Play Store will offer dark mode. Certainly it is that Android 10 will be in this, after all, this function is one of the highlights of the platform.

For you to be aware, the idea of Google is that, when the user activates the dark mode of Android 10, the functionality is automatically activated in all applications that have this feature, including those developed by third parties.

It is worth remembering that, this week, the company also started releasing dark mode in Gmail, also for Android 10 users.
