Less than a year after being released, stories for Facebook groups will be discontinued. The social network confirmed the decision and has already indicated a deadline for the resource to become unavailable to users.
According to the CNET, Facebook group stories will be discontinued from Thursday (26). As a result, temporary publications that are still on the air will be deleted and users will not be able to publish new ones in the groups in which they participate.
The stories were taken to groups in December 2018, a year after they started being adopted on the social network. The decision to close them will not interfere with temporary publications focused on profiles and pages.
“We are disabling group stories because we want to make sure that group features allow people to connect in fun and useful ways,” said the company. “We are always looking for ways to improve the overall experience of communities on Facebook.”
Facebook stories are used by more than 500 million people daily, the same number as Instagram and WhatsApp. The social network does not reveal specific numbers for the stories of groups, but, certainly, the option will not miss much.
