O Facebook will also join the wave of applications with dark mode. Jane Manchun Wong, a developer who is known for anticipating news from various social networks, recently revealed that the company is working on a version of the Android app that brings dark mode as an option.
It is a novelty that comes in a “better late than later” atmosphere. The dark mode has been available in Facebook Messenger apps since March, but the main app on the platform continues to offer only the white-dominated interface.
The good news is that Wong’s discovery indicates that Facebook has been working in a dark way for your app for some time. The bad thing is that, apparently, there is still a lot of work to be done: the captures released by Wong show that several screens still exhibit light tones.
This is a clear sign that Facebook is far from completing the app’s dark mode. That is certainly why the company has not commented on the matter. Wong herself highlights that an application of this magnitude requires a lot of time to adapt.
By “early stage of development”, this is what I mean

The explanation is that creating a dark mode is not an easy task. It is not enough to put a black background with clear fonts on the interface. Presumably, it is necessary to ensure that the color change does not impair navigability or end up stimulating the user less – it is not new to anyone that Facebook was developed to make users spend as much time as possible within the social network.
Wong points out that dark mode is being developed as part of the FB5, the cleanest and clearest interface (compared to the previous one) that Facebook released in April, both for web versions and apps for its service.
With the pardon of the pun, it was not clear whether the dark mode is also being developed for the web version of the social network.
