THE DJI announced on Wednesday (13) the Mavic Mini, a compact drone weighing 249 grams that can shoot at 2.7K. With a suggested price starting at R $ 4,049 in Brazil, it can be folded to be easily transported in the backpack and does not require registration in several countries, in addition to flying for up to 30 minutes on a single charge.
Weight of 249 grams and the controversy in Brazil
The company is keen to emphasize the weight of 249 grams of the Mavic Mini, including on the body of the drone. That’s because regulatory authorities in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe have determined that drones below 250 grams are safer and cause less damage in the event of accidents, which eliminates the need for registration and other bureaucracy.
In Brazil, the Anac regulation leaves an open point: it determines that the softest rules apply only to drones with a maximum weight of take-off up to 250 grams. The Mavic Mini with battery and memory card is under this weight, but it can exceed the limit with any load above 1 gram – as a propeller protector, for example.
The registration of a drone can be done at Anac website. Anatel charged a fee of R $ 200 to approve imported drones for its own use (and R $ 500 for commercial purposes), but decided to remove the tariff.
2.7K footage and 12 megapixel photos
The control of the Mavic Mini is simple and has a compartment to hold your Android phone or iPhone with the DJI Fly application, which shows all flight information and the camera image in real time. The transmission between the control and the drone is made over Wi-Fi and has a range of up to 4 km in ideal conditions that do not exist in real life.
The camera has a 1 / 2.3 inch sensor, f / 2.8 aperture lens and stabilization with a three-axis electronic gimbal to take 12-megapixel photos without shaking. You can shoot at 2.7K at 30 frames per second or Full HD at 60 fps at a height of up to 3,000 meters.
The autonomy is up to 30 minutes, considering a flight without wind at 14 km / h. In the fastest mode, it is possible to reach speeds of up to 47 km / h. There are visual and GPS sensors to improve the landing and allow some location even in closed places.
The Mavic Mini goes on sale in Brazil for R $ 4,049 (what a strange price) in the last week of November, with a one-year warranty. In the United States, it is sold for $ 399.
