The car manufacturer Audi presented on Monday (5) an electric vehicle focused on last mile transportation: called Audi E-Tron Scooter, the product incorporates the concepts of scooter and skateboard, differentiating itself by being guided with one hand. It has a range of 20 km and reaches speeds of up to 20 km / h; its launch is scheduled for 2020 in Europe.
Controlling the E-Tron Scooter with just one hand on the handlebars seems weird, but it makes sense: the other hand is free for the rider to signal. The vehicle is used like a skateboard, with the feet changing the weight. The product has a four-wheel axle which, according to Audi, allows for more tight turns. The speed is up to 20 km / h.
It is possible to fold the E-Tron Scooter and pull it as if it were a cart, and can be transported by car, bus or train. The battery can also be recharged in the trunk of Audi E-Tron electric vehicles through an exclusive socket. The product weighs 12 kg.
On the handlebars are the battery and electronic items, including a battery indicator display. Acceleration and braking are done using a twist handle; the brake is hydraulic service. The product includes LED lights required by European law, such as headlamp, taillight and brake light.
The E-Tron Scooter has a range of up to 20 km thanks to a system that stores part of the kinetic energy when the vehicle is braked. There is also a Bluetooth interface that allows individual adjustments to driving characteristics and protection against theft.
Audi also studies the use of the product in fleets for specific groups of users (such as residents of a condominium, for example) or even as an additional item for customers who buy cars from the E-Tron line. Production and sale of the E-Tron Scooter is planned for the end of 2020; it should cost 2 thousand euros, or about R $ 9 thousand.
