O Asus Zenfone 6 showed up again, this time in a series of leaked publicity images: they show a cell phone with a rotating dual camera, similar to the Samsung Galaxy A80, which allows a screen without notch and almost without borders. The manufacturer has confirmed that this smartphone will come with Snapdragon 855 processor.
Roland Quandt, who often gives details about future cell phones, published on twitter a series of images of the Asus Zenfone 6. The device has a glass back with curved sides and digital reader. The dual camera is in a module called “flip camera”, which rotates forward in order to take selfies, serving as the front camera.
The screen has no notch and has almost no edges on the sides and on the top; there is a small chin at the bottom. On the right edge, there are the on / off buttons, volume controls and the “smart key”, which should activate the Google Assistant. The 3.5 mm headphone jack is on the bottom edge.
Asus confirmed in a teaser that the Zenfone 6 will have Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor, plus a notification LED on the top edge, and triple tray for two chips and a microSD card.
Rumor has it that the Zenfone 6 has a dual camera with 48- and 13-megapixel sensors, a 5,000 mAh battery with a fast charge of 18 W, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and Android 9 Pie.
Rotating cameras are coming to high-end phones
Rotating cameras are not a technological novelty in themselves: they have been present on flip phones for over 10 years, and have since appeared on smartphones like the Oppo N1. However, now this component gives the opportunity to create almost borderless screens: the Galaxy A80, for example, has a triple camera with a 48 MP sensor that rotates forward.
Unlike the Samsung device, the Zenfone 6 is a flagship. We will know its official details on Thursday (16) starting at 3 pm, Brasília time, when Asus will hold its launch event in Valencia, Spain.
