O Apple Arcade will be released to all iPhone users this Thursday (19th) along with the final version of iOS 13, but anyone who is in the beta program of the operating system can try it right now, including in Brazil. The new service costs R $ 9.99 monthly with the first month free; there are 51 games available at launch, and several of them will also be available on the iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
I installed the iOS 13 public beta on an iPhone 8 Plus and had access to the Apple Arcade. When you open the App Store and touch Arcade, there is a “Try it free” button. Just confirm your subscription with Touch ID and start downloading the games.
For my quick test, I chose Dodo Peak, Frogger in Toy Town, Hot Lava, Rayman Mini and Sayonara Wild Hearts. They all start with an orange splash screen with the Apple Arcade logo, to remember that they are exclusive to the service; and have already been translated into Brazilian Portuguese. They connect to the Game Center to store their achievements, and have Family Sharing for up to six people.
By far, what I liked most was Sayonara Wild Hearts, in which you command a character following the rhythm of different songs. However, they are generally well done; there is a focus on quality in this selection that Apple offers.
Apple Arcade will have games for iPad, Apple TV and Mac
And there is a very important detail: no Apple Arcade game has in-app purchases or ads. That is, the bonds will cost only R $ 9.90 per month, nothing more than that. Taking this into account, it is a very competitive service.
The Apple Arcade will launch with 51 games, but it will have more than 100 options in the coming weeks as the catalog grows. Some of these titles will be compatible with iPad and / or Apple TV when iPadOS and tvOS 13 arrive on September 30th. MacOS Catalina will also run some games from the service when it launches in October.
