O Android 10 launched on Tuesday (3) and, in addition to the GooglePixel line, two phones have already received the update: the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro sold in China and India, in addition to Essential Phone (PH-1). Both participated in the beta program and can now run the final version of the system.
The biggest surprise is for the Redmi K20 Pro: the latest MIUI 10 update already brings Android 10 stable in China and India, according to the XDA Developers. Xiaomi adapts Google’s system with its own customized interface, but that hasn’t stopped it from releasing a very quick update.
Remember that Xiaomi will also test Android 10 later this year on eight more phones: Mi 9, Mi 9 SE, Redmi K20, Mi 8, Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi Mix 2S and Mi Mix 3 If your device has not been mentioned, rest assured: this is not a definitive list and should increase.
Nokia, Huawei and OnePlus also confirm that they will bring Android 10 to several phones. In fact, HMD Global, which sells smartphones under the Nokia brand, was the company that most updated mobile phones to Android 9 Pie.
Essential Phone receives latest Android version update
In the case of Essential Phone, updates always arrive quickly, including monthly security patches. It was launched with Oreo and received Android 9 Pie minutes after the Google Pixel line. With Android 10, it was no different.
The download of approximately 1 GB brings all the news of Android 10: improved gesture navigation, advances in privacy and security, dark mode in more places, and Smart Reply in notifications.
Of course, Essential Phone is a point out of the curve when it comes to Android updates: it is the only cell phone in the company and part of the Android Beta program, which facilitates the update.
The PH-1 stopped being sold in late 2018. Android 10 is its latest version update, but it will have monthly security patches until august 2020. Rumors say that Essential is preparing a successor with artificial intelligence capabilities.
Xiaomi announces update for Android 10 on Redmi K20 Pro:
Bravo, Xiaomi. The company is rolling out stable Android 10 for the Redmi K20 Pro on day 1 of the new OS release. Although it’s only in China so far, that’s still really impressive.
