Amazon Music started to list and play podcasts natively. The new feature is present on all platforms where the music streaming service can be used, including the line’s smart speakers Echo and mobile apps.
After letting the competition mess up on the podcast (I’m talking about you, Spotify), Amazon started bringing several programs into its music streaming platform, Amazon Music. The novelty is promising and unprecedented, since until then no podcast could be heard natively on the platform. The launch includes the creation of exclusive programs with famous presenters such as DJ Khaled, Becky G, Will Smith and Dan Patrick.
Programs like Crime Junkie, What A Day, Radiolab, Revisionist History, Planet Money, Ear Hustle, Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byer and Stuff You Should Know are present. No Brazilian was listed for reasons of: for the time being the launch only happens in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan, with no forecast to reach more markets – if it takes longer, the competition thanks you.
Playback can take place in the Amazon Music application that runs on Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, the desktop web version and all Echo speakers. Listening to podcasts does not depend on any type of subscription, such as Prime Music, which is linked to Amazon Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited.
There is even a way to listen to some podcasts in Brazil on Echo devices, without the need for Bluetooth pairing. It is enough that the chosen program has a skill, which does not happen very often. Tecnocast is not yet available. Still.
