THE Amazon launched on Wednesday (31) the third generation of Kindle Oasis, the company’s most expensive ebook reader, with prices starting at R $ 1,149 in Brazil. The updated model, which features a 7-inch screen, waterproof design and up to 32 GB of book storage, can now be found at Amazon website.
The new Kindle Oasis it is almost identical to that of the previous generation: it continues with a definition of 300 pixels per inch; it has an asymmetrical design with physical page change buttons on one side; and can be immersed in fresh water for 60 minutes at two meters deep. The battery lasts for weeks and can be recharged using the Micro USB connector (boo!).
The big difference is the light temperature setting. “From now on, you can choose the color tone, from whitest to amber, making the transition throughout the day easier for an even more comfortable night reading experience. You can even program the tone of the screen to update automatically with sunrise and sunset, ”says Amazon.
This is a trend in gadgets with screens: almost all new phones, tablets and computers have a feature to make the panel colors warmer. The idea is to reduce the emission of blue light, which impairs the production of melatonin and disrupts your sleep. The newer Kindles already had warmer e-ink panels, but the new Kindle Oasis may stay good yellowish.
Without major news, the price of the Kindle Oasis was kept at R $ 1,149 for the 8 GB model. Amazon also started selling a version with 32 GB of storage for anyone willing to spend R $ 1,299. Prices are similar to those in the United States, where ad-free e-readers sell for $ 269.99 and 299.99, respectively.
E-books consume little space, so the more expensive model should be useful only for those who listen to Audible audiobooks, who still have no plans to officially arrive in the country. Those who subscribe to the service, which is possible with an American account, can listen to the books through a Bluetooth headset.
Other e-book readers continue to be sold by Amazon at more affordable prices. O Basic Kindle costs R $ 349 and has built-in lighting this year. The Kindle Paperwhite, which started to provide protection against water and which we consider the best cost-benefit of the line, is sold for R $ 499 (8 GB) or R $ 649 (32 GB).
We already have the new Kindle Oasis in hand and the full review comes out in the coming weeks. What do you want to know about him?
